The Northwest Adventure

On our first full day in Seattle we decided to simply walk around the town to see what we could see and one of the key destinations is Pike Place market.

Some rather amazing looking fish, we really wished we had this market in Minnesota, it was the easily the best market we'd ever been to, lots of lots of really unusual stalls but not unusual naff, unusual 'would buy that all the time' sort of stalls. Cheap too, most of the bunches of flowers in the picture above were $10.Dan and his sugar cane

There was a very unusual toy shop that had things like Mozart and Beethoven action figures as well as other excellent but very different toy figures to do battle.

After a long day around the town we headed to a local park and let the kids run around. 7 points for spotting Dan in this photo.Where we didn't let the kids run around was the Hemp Festival - not something you'd find in the rather more conservative Minneapolis let me tell you. The festival was on the waterfront really near a pier from which a giant (like 14 stories and water-slides giant) cruise ship was loading up. Not wishing to propagate stereotypes but it really was not very difficult to tell who was heading where.
