Northwest Adventure - San Juan Islands

Early, early start for day 3 as we have to be at the docks by 7:15am and then we're off for the 3 hour ferry ride to the San Juan islands to the west of Seattle. Some marine life on the way

We got to see a few killer whales, not as close as when Andy and I went out in dinghy's to see them when we went to Canada a decade or so ago, but still pretty impressive. One interesting factoid is that killer whales are the largest member of the dolphin family!

Didn't get a lot of time to spend on the island, just a quick bite to eat and then headed back to the ferry really

But some great views of Seattle on the return leg
Check out Andy's wild hair
Seattle on the left with Mount Rainier on the right - sadly pictures don't do it justice

By the time we go back the round trip time was 12 hours so the kids did well to stay amused. Dan took it upon himself to select music for everyone to listen to and put the headphones on Becky, Andy and I and was our own personal DJ. Current favorite song of Dan's was Soldier (click here for youtube video) by Ingrid Michaelson
