Visitors, Indian Summers, Snow and Gondolas

On the 19th September we had a scorching hot day, about 32C so we headed to the local lake beach and spent several hours swimming, sunbathing and barbecuing. We then had Becky's birthday and part of the reason the blog has been so out of date was that the pictures from her birthday got all mangled and I've been trying unsuccessfully to recover them.

Anyway the next weekend (26th Sep) we had some far flung visitors - most of the visitors we have fly here, very few of them ride here! Russ (from my time at Metrica in Richmond and then DCT, the start up) and Caroline did however as part of their 20,000 mile world trip - check out their blog here
Russ and Caroline only had 6 days to get to new York and so after one night we bid them goodbye and did a little riding of our own - albeit on a less ambitious scale.

2 weeks later, and only 3 weeks after we've spent the day on the beach and in the lake we woke up to this - 12th of October and we've got 4 inches of snow. The leaves haven't even started to change colour yet!
I have to say that I was pretty excited, as were the kids, the snowmen actually lasted a week which tells you how cold the week was, it snowed twice more during the week and went down to -5C. I also had a trip to San Diego for an industry conference - I knew I'd been on too many trips when Becky said on my return 'Why do you keep going on holiday without us?'

The next week was MEA week (Minnesota Education Authority) which means the teachers get a few days off and the kids do too. I'd had a grim week at work but decided to tkae the Friday off, we were planning to go away but I had too much on so I didn't finish until 3am on the Friday but then took the day off and we had a stay cation where we let the kids choose treats. Dan wanted to go to Game Works where we all (including Becky) played laser tag and mini golf - then we headed to see 'Where the Wild Things Are' (excellent but kind of a like watching someone's therapy session) and headed to Snuffy's Malt Shop (burgers and great shakes). Next day was Becky's turn and we went to the Water Park of America (or Bloomington anyway) and on Sunday we headed to Stillwater

Didn't expect to see a gondola on the riverAlthough the day was coldish a little bit of tag soon warmed us upAnd Becky is now every bit as keen on jumping as Dan wasAnd within a couple of weeks we've gone from Summer to the end of Autumn - this was taken on the 23rd October - 4 weeks after the picture at the start of this blog.
